ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It’s not the Big Dance or a top-of-the-line dance hall, but the University of New Mexico Lobos insist they’re ready to bust a move.
UNM will host Weber State tonight for round one of the Women’s Basketball Invitational at Johnson Center. The Lobos (17-14) will play in the on-campus facility that typically serves as home for the school’s volleyball team along with too many intramural and pick-up basketball games to count.
Such is not an entirely new experience. UNM hosted two WBI games at Johnson Center last season under the same set of circumstances; Professional Bull Riding’s annual Ty Murray Invitational has transformed the Pit into a dirt-filled rodeo venue.
