ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — They’re not exactly uncharted waters, but the University of New Mexico women’s basketball team hasn’t sailed here for a while.
Coming into today’s Mountain West home game against Fresno State, the Lobos (8-4, 1-0) hold an early share of the conference lead. UNM pulled out a league-opening 51-47 victory at Nevada on Wednesday – the first time it had won a Mountain West opener since 2008-09.
“It’s nice to get off to a good start and play from ahead,” sophomore Laneah Bryan said. “Last year we lost some games early and ended well, but that’s doing it the hard way.
