The New Mexico Lobos volleyball team is embarking on what coach Jeff Nelson calls its toughest week of the year.
UNM (4-2) is competing in the USC Classic in Los Angeles beginning tonight.
“It’s a really big weekend for us,” said Nelson, whose team faces Pepperdine tonight, sixth-ranked Southern California on Friday and Idaho State on Saturday.
Nelson said he is seeing “more fight out of this group” than any team he has had here.
The Lobos may need some of that fight this week. Pepperdine is 6-1 under new coach Scott Wong.
