ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team faced BYU Friday night at home and pulled off an exciting 4-3 upset over the No. 44 ranked team.
The Lobos started off strong by clinching the doubles point. The No. 16 doubles duo of Hayden Sabatka and Bart Van Leijsen made quick work of their opponents Jeremy Bourgeois and Aidan Carrazedo. They defeated them 6-3 while playing at the number one position.
Jorge Escutia and Ricky Hernandez-Tong took on BYU’s Keaton John Pearce and Jacob Sullivan at the number three position, but fell 6-3.
