No. 21 American was powerless to derail the trend as New Mexico took a 2-1 overtime win.
It may not be the way Lobos coach Jeremy Fishbein would have drawn up, but it certainly seems to be working.
“You can’t put yourself in this position too often because you’re not always going to come out on top,” he said. “We have to be better down the stretch and the guys need to recognize that.
