University of New Mexico quarterback CJ Montes has entered the transfer portal. The rising sophomore from Pasadena, California, made the announcement Wednesday on Twitter.
“Thank you to the University of New Mexico & the coaching staff for the opportunity to compete @ the highest level academically & athletically,” Montes posted. “Thank you to all the fans for the love & support. Everything being said, I am entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility.”
Montes played in only three games as a freshman in 2021, retaining his redshirt status for that season.
In his two seasons at UNM, Montes played in seven games and completed 37 of 84 passes with three interceptions and no touchdowns.
