Junior running back Teriyon Gipson had a procedure to repair a slight meniscus tear and will miss the New Mexico Lobos’ opening game, coach Bob Davie said after Thursday’s practice.
Gipson definitely won’t play in the Sept. 5 opener against Mississippi Valley State and could miss the Sept. 12 game against Tulsa, Davie said.
“:It was just a little (piece of) torn meniscus in there just kind of floating around,” Davie said. “They trimmed that and took it out, so it’s something I’m really glad we did and I know (Gipson is) glad we did because it would have been a little nuisance all year.
