Lobos cornerback Isaiah “I.B” Brown and safety Markel Byrd have been suspended indefinitely and will not play Saturday against Hawaii, coach Bob Davie announced Wednesday.
Davie said the two defensive backs violated the program’s class attendance policy.
“I.B. Brown and Markel Byrd have been indefinitely suspended and will not play this weekend,” Davie said in a statement issued Wednesday evening. “We have a class attendance policy that both of these players chose not to follow.
“There was a pattern of showing up late and leaving early from class and we will not accept it.”
Brown and Byrd are considered key players in UNM’s secondary.
