For a college football player, a scholarship means far more than a free breakfast; it means his education is now being paid for. It means acceptance from the coaching staff.
But as a symbol of the sudden transition from walk-on to scholarship player, the first meal of the day will do nicely.
John Russo and Michael Walsh go back a ways. In the fall of 2011, Russo rushed for two touchdowns for his Eldorado Eagles in a 26-14 upset of La Cueva. Walsh threw a touchdown pass for the Bears in a losing cause.
