ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Carson Schneider didn’t need too much support from his offense Friday night.
He got it all the same.
Schneider (5-1) pitched eight strong innings as the University of New Mexico baseball team rolled to a 15-3 victory over UNLV in the opener of a three-game series at Santa Ana Star Field. Luis Gonzalez paced an 18-hit attack for the Lobos, going 4-for-6 with two doubles and four RBIs.
Ten players had at least one hit for UNM (18-8, 7-3 Mountain West), which won for the 10th time in its last 12 games. The offense was a bonus as Schneider settled into dominant form after a shaky first inning.
