ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Opportunity comes knocking for the University of New Mexico baseball team today and Wednesday.
The Lobos host 10th-ranked Texas Tech in a two-game series at Santa Ana Star Field and UNM coach Ray Birmingham knows what a victory or two could do for his team’s NCAA résumé.
“These games are big for us, no doubt,” he said. “Tech is the highest-ranked, highest RPI team on our schedule so it’s important to step up. Our kids are excited about it.”
New Mexico (26-11) is returning from an up-and-down California road trip where it went 3-2.
