ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It wasn’t the kind of Friday night win Ray Birmingham had in mind, but the UNM baseball coach was glad to take it.
Dalton Bowers hit a tiebreaking RBI single with two outs in the eighth inning, and Jared Holley followed with a two-run double to lift New Mexico to a 9-6 win over San Jose State at Santa Ana Star Field.
UNM (11-6, 3-1 Mountain West) trailed 4-0 after two innings and 5-2 in the fifth but rallied to win for the fifth time in six games. Reliever Alex Estrella (1-0) retired all five batters he faced to earn the victory.
