MIAMI —New Mexico battled host and No. 25 Florida International to a 0-0 draw on Saturday night in Conference USA men’s soccer.
“This is a tough environment against a good team, and we battled and created chances,” coach Jeremy Fishbein said of his Lobos (7-4-4, 1-3-2).
Jason Beaulieu made eight saves against an FIU(9-5-1, 3-3-1) team averaging 2.36 goals per game, which was the nation’s fifth-highest total. FIU outshot New Mexico 21-5.
UNM hosts last-place Florida Atlantic on Friday, which is Senior Night, and can clinch a C-USA tournament berth win a win.
