ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Unpleasant, yes. Instructional, maybe.
The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team got no enjoyment from Saturday’s 81-60 loss to Boise State at the Pit. Still, coach Yvonne Sanchez and her staff made sure the Lobos relived it, paying close attention to a game video that exposed Lobo weaknesses and could spur beneficial adjustments.
The hot-shooting Broncos effectively torched UNM’s man-to-man defense in the first half, taking advantage of missed assignments and using screens and dribble-penetration to create mismatches. Boise State shot 72 percent from the field in the first half and built a comfortable 48-27 lead.
