ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An already big game got that much bigger Monday for the UNM women’s basketball team.
Red-hot Colorado State, which visits the Pit on Wednesday, climbed into this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll at No. 25. It’s the first time the Rams (24-1, 14-0 Mountain West) have been nationally ranked since 2002 and the first time any MWC women’s team has been ranked since San Diego State in 2010.
The Lobos and head coach Yvonne Sanchez took notice.
“I’m glad for (the Rams),” Sanchez said after Monday’s practice at the Pit. “It was a long time coming.
