ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Maybe there’s something in the water, something good for University of New Mexico football, in Weed, Calif.
Weed is the home of College of the Siskiyous, a two-year school where safety David Guthrie honed the skills that made him arguably the fiercest hitter on the UNM team in 2013-14.
Now, linebacker Austin Ocasio, another former COS Eagle, could have the same distinction in 2016.
At least, Lobos coach Bob Davie said Friday, Ocasio would be “at the top of our list. … Boy, he explodes. He is explosive.”
At Friday’s practice, the ninth session of spring drills, UNM scrimmaged for about 40 minutes.
