ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It was yet another controversial ending of a Mountain West Conference basketball game on Saturday, and one that again involved the University of New Mexico.
But this time, it was the Lobo women’s team that came up short in a wild ending that — at the time — appeared might produce another statement from the league explaining an officiating call.
On Monday, however, a league official searched the women’s college basketball rule book and found that the correct decision was applied in San Jose State’s last-second 59-58 home win against the Lobos.
Earlier this month, the Lobo men lost 78-71 at San Diego State in overtime.
