MWC preview: Veteran assistant may give San Jose State a lift

Al Borges is back on the West Coast where he belongs, and Ron Caragher’s got him.

Under Caragher, the San Jose State Spartans took a tumble in 2014. After averaging 32 points per game in 2013 – Caragher’s first at the school – SJSU managed just 19 points per contest last season. The Spartans went 3-9, losing their final six games.

Offensively, it was a bizarre season. San Jose State averaged 394.5 yards total offense per game, exactly the same as Mountain West Conference rival San Diego State. But the Aztecs scored basically a touchdown more per game (25 points).
