ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico track & field team opened its title defense at the 2016 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships Thursday with a trio of sixth-place finishes.
Kyra Mohns placed sixth in the women's pentathlon and the Lobos' men's and women's distance medley relay also took sixth in the respective races on the first day of the three-day championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Both the men's team and the women's team sit in sixth place through the first day, where just three events — the pentathlon and the DMRs — went final.
