ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Trailing by a point at the end of the first half, the University of New Mexico women's basketball team went off in the third quarter, outscoring Colorado State 26-11. That big third period proved to be the catalyst of an eventual 73-62 UNM win on Wednesday night inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit.
The win for the Lobos (11-8, 2-4 MW) builds off their victory this past Saturday afternoon at Air Force and gives them their first conference win at home as well.
In the game on Wednesday, the Lobos were able to endure a hot shooting first half by Colorado State as the Rams (8-9, 2-4) knocked down nine three-pointers and were hitting at a 50% clip through the first 20 minutes of play.
