Kevin Cosgrove counts himself and his family as blessed.
Yes, Cosgrove, the New Mexico Lobos’ defensive coordinator and linebackers coach lived a 3½-year nightmare as his son, Connor, underwent treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia. But Connor is a healthy young man today, cancer free.
The elder Cosgrove also is grateful that chemotherapy was successful in eradicating his son’s cancer and that no bone-marrow transplant was needed.
“We were very fortunate with that,” he said.
The Cosgroves – Kevin, his wife, Shelly, sons Clint and Connor, daughter Shannon – know not everyone fighting leukemia is so fortunate.
