Someone could have made a movie about Delane Hart-Johnson’s experiences as a high school student and football player in Philadelphia.
In fact, someone did.
“We Could Be King,” a 2014 documentary from Tribeca Films, follows the athletic and academic journey of Hart-Johnson and other students who transferred to Martin Luther King High School after nearby Germantown High was shut down for financial reasons.
The schools, located a mile apart, had been traditional football rivals. Hart-Johnson, now a sophomore at the University of New Mexico, had been a Germantown star wide receiver as a high school junior in 2012.
