It was hard for the University of New Mexico volleyball team not to focus on what might have been.
The Lobos came home from last week’s season-opening tournament at Ball State 2-1 but missed a golden chance to defeat the host team and win the tournament. UNM could not convert a match point in the fourth set and ended up dropping a hard-fought five-setter to the Cardinals.
“We were ticked off,” senior middle Simone Henderson conceded, “but we know there were so many little mistakes in that match we can fix. At this point we’re really looking forward to the next tournament and taking a lesson from what happened at Ball State.
