The frustration for the New Mexico men’s soccer team Friday after a 2-2 draw with No. 18 San Diego was palpable in the Grange & Ashwill Memorial Invitational Tournament.
“That’s a game for the win,” said goalkeeper Jason Beaulieu. “We have to win this game if we want to be one of the best teams in the country. We need to win games like those, going into overtime and win big games. That’s what the program is all about, winning big games at home, and we didn’t (Friday). I think it’s pretty disappointing.”
The Lobos (0-1-1) rallied from a one-goal deficit thanks to two goals from Chris Wehan in under five minutes, but the Toreros came back themselves to force the draw.
