ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Rice and Noodles won’t be mixing it up tonight in the Thomas & Mack Center.
But while UNLV will be playing its first game since the Sunday night firing of Dave Rice (assistant coach Todd Simon has been promoted to interim head coach), fans can probably expect the same high-drama game that has become a staple of the past four meetings when Craig “Noodles” Neal and his Lobos played the Rice-led Rebels.
UNM (10-6, 3-0 Mountain West) has beaten the Rebels each of the past two seasons in Las Vegas, Nev., since Neal has take over the program — and the past three overall in the Thomas & Mack dating to the 2013 MWC tournament championship when Steve Alford was still coaching the Lobos.
