SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- The University of New Mexico baseball team got a strong start from ace , but the Lobos struggled at the plate as they fell to San Diego State 4-0 Friday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
Stevens went seven innings and gave up three runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and just one walk, but first-place UNM (24-18-1 overall, 14-3-1 Mountain West) finished with four hits against second-place San Diego State (30-13, 14-6) and were shutout for the fifth time this season.
"Tyler did a good job for us, we just couldn't get anything going," UNM coach Ray Birmingham said.
