The New Mexico Lobos made a little history Saturday night.
Afterward, UNM coach Bob Davie said that’s exactly what Saturday’s game is as of this morning – history.
The Lobos, thoroughly dominating a painfully outmanned Mississippi Valley State football team, crushed the Delta Devils 66-0 at University Stadium in both teams’ season opener.
The shutout was UNM’s first since a 24-0 whitewash of Wyoming in 2008. The margin of victory was the Lobos’ largest since a 77-6 rout of the University of Mexico in 1960 and the largest margin of victory in a shutout since a 78-0 thrashing of Northern Arizona in 1950.
