SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- The University of New Mexico baseball team rebounded emphatically from being shutout Friday as the Lobos racked up 11 runs and 13 hits in the first three innings, got a solid start from Johnathon Tripp and cruised to an 11-6 victory over San Diego State on Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
The victory keeps the Lobos (25-18-1), who lost 4-0 Friday, in first place in the Mountain West at 15-3-1 while San Diego State (30-14) drops to 14-6 with Sunday's rubber match looming.
"It was good to come out and get the bats going today," UNM coach Ray Birmingham said.
