LAS CRUCES — Sunday was not a day of rest for the University of New Mexico women’s basketball team.
Far from it.
Before they could even start preparing for tonight’s Rio Grande Rivalry showdown against New Mexico State, the Lobos had to pay a hefty tab accumulated in Friday’s season-opening win over Houston Baptist. UNM went 17-for-33 from the foul line in their 65-57 victory, and players lined up for 16 extra sprints Sunday.
The Lobos ran from baseline to baseline for each sprint at the Davalos Center and each player had to finish the sprint in 12 seconds or less.
