There are lots of familiar faces at University of New Mexico women’s basketball practices these days but the atmosphere is decidedly different.
Expectations have changed for the better.
Part of the outlook change is fueled by momentum from UNM’s strong finish in 2014-15. After a 1-7 start the Lobos went 20-6 the rest of the way to end up second in the Mountain West Conference and secure the program’s first postseason berth since 2010.
Four of the team’s five starters from that late-season surge return.
There’s also a buzz about the additions UNM has made since last season ended.
