Lobo women confident they can win national cross-country title

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The most anticipated cross-country race in New Mexico Lobos history will take place Saturday in an urban park in Louisville, Ky.

The No. 1-ranked UNM women will try to bring the school only its second NCAA team championship. The ski team won the national crown in 2004.

The women’s race, a 6-kilometer, takes place at 10 a.m. followed by the men;s 10K at 11 a.m. Live streaming of the race is at NCAA.com.

The Lobos were the surprise of the 2014 meet, finishing third. But after dominating wins at Notre Dame and Wisconsin, UNM enters this meet as the favorite.
