ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – When looking back at the 2018-19 season, the New Mexico women's tennis team could have been excused for asking where the Dramamine was, given the topsy-turvy roller coaster season it went through that started with a new assistant coach, a leave of absence for its head coach, a return, and then another leave before stepping away for personal reasons, and that original new assistant coach leading the team to a 12-9 season.
Now, that assistant coach, Vicky Maes, who helmed Arizona's sidelines for 14 seasons, is the permanent head coach for UNM, entering her second season, and a program that went through four head coaches in five seasons now has stability, and it also has Mountain West championship aspirations.
