ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The first few games of the conference season aren’t usually when teams are still breaking in new offensive philosophies.
But for the New Mexico Lobos, a team that has lost three reserve post players this season to either injury (6-foot-9 Devon Williams and 6-10 J.J. N’Ganga) or transfer (7-1 Nikola Scekic), the inevitable evolution into using a four-guard lineup on a regular basis is just now taking shape.
While the starting, and preferred, lineup for UNM (9-6, 2-0 Mountain West) remains a three-guard, two big-men look, Lobo fans should get used to seeing more small ball moving forward, including in today’s home matchup with Utah State (9-5, 1-2 MWC).
