Lobo football team focused on slowing down San Jose State running game

If Reggie Jackson was the straw that stirred the New York Yankees’ drink back in the late 1970s, Tyler Ervin is the energy drink that stirs the San Jose State Spartans in 2015.

The senior running back from Colton, Calif., ranks 12th nationally in rushing with 128 yards per game. He’s averaging 5.7 yards per carry. He’ll seek to improve both of those numbers Saturday against the New Mexico Lobos at Spartan Stadium.

So far this season, seven running backs have rushed for more than 100 yards in a game against New Mexico. If the Lobos (4-3 overall, 2-1 in Mountain West Conference play) can stop Ervin from becoming No.
