At this time three years ago, the New Mexico Lobos had a 4-3 record and were coming off a victory over Hawaii. Talk of a possible bowl bid, if not exactly rampant, undeniably was out there.
The Lobos didn’t win another game that season.
Now, in a fascinating case of football deja vu, New Mexico again is 4-3 and coming off a win over Hawaii.
But can the 2015 Lobos do what the 2012 team could not, and win at least the two more games that would make them bowl eligible?
That won’t happen, UNM coach Bob Davie made it clear Saturday night, if his team doesn’t perform better in the remaining five games than it did in its first seven.
