The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will play 13 nonconference games between Nov. 13 and Dec. 25 before an 18-game Mountain West Conference slate from Dec. 30 through March 5.
While the Lobos nonconference slate is far from the toughest in the league, it is expected to be stronger than the one played last season and will inclulde at least six of 13 games against 2015 NCAA Tournament teams.
In the 2014-15 season, UNM played four nonfonference teams that finished with a final RPI of 250 or worse and two Top 100 RPI teams. This season, only one of UNM’s nonconference opponents (Nicholls State) finished ranked 250 or higher while three were Top 100 RPI teams (and at least four others finished in the Top 150).
