COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Lobo fans knew it was a pretty good debut for Elijah Lilly as a kickoff returner. Apparently the Mountain West agreed. Lilly, returning kickoffs for the first time, and playing just his second career game, was named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 40 yards per return over four returns on Saturday in a 45-40 win over Air Force.
Other honorees were Jeremy McNichols of Boise State for Offensive Player of the Week and Tau Lotulelei for Defensive Player of the Week. Lilly returned four kickoffs for 160 yards, and that total yardage now leads the team, despite only returning kickoffs for one game.
