ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Jordan Hunter’s time has come.
Maybe not quite as expected, but it certainly didn’t take long.
Less than one year since enrolling at UNM, after former starter Cullen Neal transferred and senior Tim Jacobs exhausted his eligibility, Hunter begins offseason workouts expecting to be the Lobos starting point guard for the 2016-17 season and beyond.
“I feel like (UNM coach Craig Neal) really just handed it to me right now,” Hunter said Monday afternoon. “We’ve talked a couple times (since the end of the season) and he pretty much just told me, ‘Hey, I’m giving you the team.
