ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The UNM Lobos aren’t getting to the NCAA Tournament this season without winning the Mountain West Tournament.
Saturday, as painful as the overtime loss to the San Diego State Aztecs was, didn’t change that.
It may have made the odds of a regular season title more improbable, but the reality is SDSU (18-6, 11-0) was already well on the way to securing the crown, even with a March 1 return visit to the Pit still on the schedule. The Lobos, who have just one four-game winning streak this season, weren’t likely to run the table.
