COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Hayden Schilling, who led UN to a 3-1 week including a 5-4 win over Arizona in Tucson and a series win over San Jose State, was named the Mountain West Player of the Week by league officials on Monday.
Over the four-game week, Schilling had two hits in each game, going 8-for-17 on the week, a .471 average. He scored five runs, had two doubles, a triple and six runs batted in, including a career-high five on Friday in a 14-2 win.
Against Arizona, Schilling doubled and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, and then in the ninth on a two-strike pitch with UNM down 4-3 in the top of the ninth, he singled to load the bases and extend the game, where UNM got the go-ahead hit in the next at bat.
