ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — As a motivation for individual excellence, the team concept never hurts.
The New Mexico Lobos placed fifth in a nine-team field Saturday in the UNM Team Invitational track and field meet at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
That middle-of-the-pack team finish, though, featured more than its share of individual highlights.
Lobos triple jumper Jannell Hadnot established a personal best – indoor or outdoor – with a leap of 42 feet, 11¾ inches. Hadnot surpassed her previous best by 7½ inches in edging California’s Isabella Marten (42-11) for first place.
Long jumper Yannick Roggatz set an indoor personal best of 24-10½ in winning his event for UNM.
