ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The calendar tells us the 10-week Mountain West season has reached its halfway point.
So what have we learned?
Here are some thoughts from one guy:
BIGGEST SURPRISE: The San Diego State Aztecs are the best team in the league. And since they got all but one preseason vote for first place, maybe this shouldn’t be a shock. But at 9-0 with five road games already under their belts, including two of the tougher ones (at Boise State and at UNLV), the reality is SDSU’s 2½-game lead in the standings over the rest of the league is a surprise.
