ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — University of New Mexico senior track athlete Courtney Frerichs is receiving consideration for the Preseason Women's Bowerman Award Watch List, which was released Wednesday by the Bowerman Watch List Committee.
Frerichs, a senior from Nixa, Mo., placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase last June at the 2015 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., and finished the calendar year ranked 27th in the world in the steeplechase.
"It's an amazing honor for her," New Mexico head coach Joe Franklin said. "She's the epitome of what a student-athlete is supposed to be.
