Two weeks ago, the buzzword around the University of New Mexico football program was “pivotal.”
This week, it’s “desperately.”
Rest assured, though, that win or lose in Laramie, Wyo., both teams involved will show up for their next scheduled game – and that the coach of the losing team will say, “Hey, we’ve got eight games left.”
And, of course, that will be true.
Today, the Lobos face the Wyoming Cowboys in both teams’ Mountain West Conference opening game. To say neither team is off to the start it hoped for is like saying Scott Walker’s presidential campaign hasn’t turned out quite as well as he would have liked.
