ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It’s reasonable to assume that Dallas Baptist University’s baseball team was not impressed by the New Mexico Lobos’ No. 24 national ranking.
The Patriots put the finishing touches on a stunning three-game sweep of UNM at Santa Ana Star Field on Sunday, rallying from nine runs down to pull out a 12-11 victory.
Sunday’s comeback came on the heels of a 33-8 thrashing on Saturday. DBU (8-3) won a pitching-oriented 5-2 contest in Friday’s opener but finished the weekend with 61 hits and 50 runs scored.
“It all boiled down to pitching,” Lobo coach Ray Birmingham said.
