Former University of New Mexico Lobo and Albuquerque Academy graduate Chad Toppert was selected Saturday in the second round of the NBA Development League draft by the Reno Bighorns.
Toppert, a 6-foot-6 forward who played most recently in Germany, graduated from UNM in 2009.
Former New Mexico State Aggie Justin Hawkins was drafted later in the second round by the Los Angeles Defenders.
Jimmer Fredette, the former BYU star, was chosen No. 2 overall in the draft by the Westchester Knicks.
