College football: Hard to begrudge the Lobos a win

There is something to be said for the entertainment value of college football.

Bob Davie could see it even as he stared into the face of what would have been a crushing loss to New Mexico State.

“We may not be a great team, but we’re fun to watch,” the man who is in charge of the New Mexico Lobos football program.

Being down 29-14 early in the third quarter was hardly an insurmountable deficit. Still, Davie called the situation “bleak” and he had a point.

Aggie Larry Rose, a wonderfully fun running back, was tormenting the Lobos, finding gaps and gnashing them.
