The University of New Mexico is scheduled to play downstate rival New Mexico State at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first college baseball game between the two schools in Albuquerque since 2019.
It’s the third of four scheduled games between UNM and NMSU this season. The Lobos (18-28) won the first two meetings, 19-2 and 7-4.
The Lobos and Aggies (18-26) didn’t play in the COVID-shortened 2020 season and did not meet in 2021.
Through 46 games, David Jeffrey and Lenny Junior Ashby lead the Lobos offensively with matching .342 averages. Ashby leads the team with 12 home runs and 51 RBIs.
