A small juniper tree is decorated in honor of the UNM women’s NCAA champion cross country team. The tree is on trail 365 just outside the Elena Gallegos Picnic Area, where the team sometimes trains.
New Mexico had one of the most dominating performances in NCAA meet history on Saturday In Louisville, Ky., beating second-place Colorado by 80 points.
The cross country team joins the 2004 UNM ski team as the school’s only NCAA team champions.
