LAS CRUCES — UNM Lobos junior forward Devon Williams stayed overnight in a Las Cruces hospital where he was diagnosed with having suffered a cervical spinal cord contusion at the 11:16 mark of Sunday night’s win against the New Mexico State Aggies.
Around 2 a.m. Monday, Lobos coach Craig Neal told the Journal that Williams did have movement in all his extremities and it was unclear when he would be able to return to the team. Two Lobo staff members stayed in Las Cruces with Williams in the hospital.
Williams, a 6-foot-8 fourth year junior forward from Woodrow Wilson High in Dallas, collided with teammate Jordan Hunter in an awkward angle and collapsed immediately, face first, onto the court in the Pan American Center.
